Thanks! I'll check again but I think the 2016 kickpanel has changed compared to your model year. It looks like there is an ECU unit in the passenger side kickpanel with 2 bolts on the bottom holding it onto some brace that sticks out from the sheet metal. Whatever it is, it seems to completely block the view to the entry point of the door boot.

Doesn't surprise me, I was amazed there was nothing under the kick panel in my 2014. The drivers side was way more work.
You should be able to trace the harness further back under the dash or even tap into it behind the head unit.

I hope to pull the head unit again soon and will take some pics. My radio reception is better with the unit pulled out and degrades after I install it....strange.

Tundra, can you help me out, or direct me to somewhere that can...I got the glovebox out, but where (which color wires) did you tap into for your speaker leads? I see where the brain for the radio is (behind the right kick panel) but I don't know which leads to tap into.
(edited...I have a 2016 6 Touring, manual....don't know if that makes a difference.)

Here are the wire schematics under 0920-A to C

Wiring Diagram - Body Accessories

You may need to just pull the head unit.

question about lc7i vs lc2i

I wonder if its possible to use an lc2i instead of the lc7i to run to a 5 ch amp which is listed to work of off a single pair of rca inputs? would there be any advantage in running the lc7i instead? thanks

So i dug around the passenger side kickpanel in the 2016 6 and found that after glove box removal, the CPU in the kickpanel can be taken out by removing 3 nuts. Further, there is a mounting adapter underneath that mostly obstructs the wire bundle that goes out to the rubber boot - almost impossible to get at.

But the good news is the wire bundle goes across the firewall just below the cabin air filter...should be able to splice into the front passenger's side door speaker that way instead of pulling the HU assembly.

In the 2016 non-Bose, I have noted the wire colors at each door speaker terminal connector:

Left front:
Brown, White
Right front:
Blue, Green
Left rear:
Red, Blue
Right rear:
Red, Blue

The rear wires have silver spots and are thinner gauge than the fronts.
The first color is the right side of each speaker connector (I haven't checked polarity yet)
