How many times do you get pulled over? I've never once had a problem with getting my insurance card out, and my glove box isn't exactly a clean freak's wet dream. Considering I need to access my insurance card maybe 3 or 4 times a year, it seems way more of a hassle to keep it somewhere that it's in the way, like the sunglasses holder.

If that's something you're worried about, you could set something up like the trucks my work had. They had a small pocket put in near the top part of the seat belt. It was just stuck on there with either adhesive or Velcro. Fit the insurance/registration cards in perfectly and they'd be just behind you and to the left.

I put in the sunshade. A former officer friend of mine always told me that's the best place for it as officers hate it when people dig through their glove box as it makes them nervous that you might happen to pull a gun out. It's easily accessible, and much harder to lose if it's in the sunshade.

I put my paper work in the glove box. I put my change in the cubby on the left side of the steering wheel in dashboard.

My insurance agent gives out small plastic envelopes, open on one end. My insurance card and registration go in that and under the strap on the sun visor. Easy access. Change stays in my pocket, but I wouldn't mine a place to have keep some when traveling on toll roads.
