ECU readability???

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone has been inside (read) the ECU recently on the 1st gens? Without giving to much away at this time, I'm coming up on some very interesting things in my build and will need to turn off/edit some things in the ECU. I saw that I can get a Mazdaedit licence for <300 but I'm just not sure if that's what I need or not. I see that twisted tuning has tunes as well as Mazdaedit but I won't need to tune right away. I reached out to them and I'm waiting on a response but would like to see if anyone else has dealt with anything like this in the past few years.

From what I've heard this ecu on the 1st gen is pretty well locked up. But I have not had any direct experience. That's just what I've heard others say.

Ditto - Specifically the V6 was crazy hard to get into from what I remember, which is why a tune was never released for it.

I thought thegreatny cracked it years ago. Maybe I read it wrong. Oh well. I can go another route to accomplish the same thing lol. Just would be nice to turn some warning things off in the computer. Not sure what codes if any it will toss so I'll address it when it comes to it lol.

If i remember correctly, TGNY was able to piggyback a second gen ECU to the first gen and do modifications in that way. Not sure how it was all done as I never bought one but that is how my memory goes. Me, I'm going with a piggyback from ECU Master - DET3.

I am almost positive you can vin flash a 06-08 3.0V6 ECU to work in the 1st gen and you can get into the 06-08 easily.

I'll try to reach out to twisted tuning again to try and talk more in depth with him. (I hope) If not then I have a back up plan and it should work the same way. My main concern is the car going into limp mode and the traction control and abs messing up on me. Even if this happens, I have plan C which is a lot more work but will still accomplish the main goal. Thanks all!!

06-08 flash, this may be what could be the thing I need. Hell there is a 06 v6 in the yard right now. Maybe I should nab that ecu while it's still there.

Keep us updated. Would also be interested in what he has to say. Just bought OCV seals from him the other day.

I have not looked into it yet, I would assume you use the same stuff the 06-08 guys use.
