@hurddawg is an 06-08 guy. He is trying to find out if you know what tools are used @b1lk1 (I think... sorry if I got it wrong).

@waughoo you have it right. Either way, it answers my question.
Mazedit seems to be the only possibility, I just can't find any one that seemed to have used it on later cars. I found a post from 2016 that orange virus tuning themselves said they were working on something for the cars, but if you go to their website it only supports the 4 cylinders.

Cobb is only for speed6 as well so.

Curious what @dj radiate has planned!

I would not hold my breath for OVT, after all those promises he all but dropped Mazda and there is little doubt he has no solution for the V6 other than the installation of a newer PCM. I doubt they are even willing to do anything for the V6 now as well.

I have people here in Ontario that claim to have tuned their 03-05 V6, but they never answer back after I explain to them it is nearly impossible. I have not spoken with a shop yet and I am not sure I ever will, but it is a shame it is not easier to do this, lots of potential left in these engines.
DJ Raydiate and hurddawg like this.

Ralco shortshifter/Bose w/Auxmod/sharkfin antenna/lots of little things...

Newer pcm it is then. I'll grab the one available here in the yard soon and look into the vin flash. I would assume the dealer needs to do the vin flash correct? I know they can get into them lol. That's why I was trying to ask them if just Mazda edit would be able to do it. Either way, if it's that easy to just use a newer ecu it would be worth it. I just want to be able to turn things off. Here in FL we don't have inspections or anything to renew our tags so even if things are in a steady "not ready" state to keep the CEL off I'm good to go.

It would be a great way to clean up the engine bay some lol. What EGR

Just to clarify, I am not positive this will work as intended. TGNY and OVT both gave basically no information and also promised MANY times that the 03-05 would be tuneable soon. As usual, they would stop responding to any thread asking if/when it was coming.

If I had the $$$, I would already know if it does indeed work. I would "assume" that Mazdaedit is used and I would also expect you have to use 06-08 programming as well. This is where I expect all the problems, I can't see how you could VIN flash it as that would put hopelessly locked software on the ECM. BUT, if you don't VIN flash it what about PATS?

Don't go into this thinking it is easy on any level, it has not been done very sucessfully outside of 1 guy and he never finished the car as well as basically refuses to discuss them now. I hardly trust that OVT has much if any useful information to add as well.

It would be fine for what I'm going for. Even if there is no way around not using the 03 ecu, it won't stop my end goal. Hell, I'm not even opposed to buying a salvage 6 from an auction just to totally rewire my 03
