That could potentially put a dent in their Signature sales
The question is how much of a dent and do those lost sales exceed the dev/ testing/cert cost of beefing up the stick for the turbo?

Imo G70 styling is too derivative. Leveraging too much Infiniti to my eyes.

A slushbox that has already been reported as being a bit lethargic. No doubt fixable via software update, but when reviewers say that the paddles arent great, it pretty much takes away any sportiness. That said, i have not driven the Stinger -yet- so who knows if the reviewers are smoking something. Also not sure what they are comparing auto against. E.g. anything would be subjectivity slower than a dual clutch.

Only loosely related - apparently the Camaro and the Corvette with their specific variant of "Tap Shift" torque converter based conventional automatic trans are well-nigh as quick-shifting as a dual-clutch automated manual transmision...

I believe that's only on upshifts in specific conditions according to a smoking tire ep on the Corvette.

Yeah, that's only on certain gear changes (like a 2-3), only on that upshift, and only at WOT. And that's only talking about the gear change, not the time from hitting the paddle to the change actually happening. Haven't driven GM's 8L90 here, but the 8L45 is not near as slick as VW's old 6-speed DSG.

https://insidemazda.mazdausa.com/press-release/2018-mazda6-premium-performance-design-heighten-appeal/

All information for the 18 MY.

Goes on sale in April.

Sport is standard with dual zone climate control, led head lights, cylinder deactivation with the AT, 8 inch headunit. The trim also gets a safety tech package option too but AT only. Looks like the package puts some current touring features into the sport.

Soul red crystal is also 595 wtf.

Says 6MT now only available on the Sport. Not clear on which trims the turbo is available, or its cost.

Also, I wonder if the turbo will have cylinder deactivation, and if the 2018 will have CarPlay.

https://www.autoblog.com/2018/03/15/...ing-announced/

Autoblog says turbo is only available on the GT, GT Reserve, and Signature. Prices start at $31.1K for the GT, $32.6 for a GT Reserve, and $35.6K for the Signature.

I personally think that, for the features, a GT Reserve is the sweet spot.

My question has been answered: 6 MT cars get the upgraded, lower internal friction naturally aspirated engine that the A/T cars do... just no cyl deactivation 'cuz that is tied to a mechanism in the A/T. The engine HP goes up by 3 and the max torque goes up by 1. Sweet! I had thought that the 2018 Sport 6 MT would get the same engine as the Mazda3 6 MT... and same as the 2017.5 Mazda6. Not so...

Mazda is pretty cool. They without fail, each year, make incremental improvements. Not a lazy bunch of car people...
