Wierd noise only on start up

Hi all,

I have a 05 wagon v6 which started making this wierd noise only on startups. It lasts for barely a second and foes not sound like metal on metal. It happens less often when the engine is warm.

The starter is new and has less than 1k on it. Either way the noise comes just after the engine has started. It sounds like a syring trying to suck a viscous fluid or may sucking a fluid through a clogged filter.

Its definitely not a belt squeak, I'd think some bearing but why only during startup?

I just got my oil changed and it doesnt help. The engine light is for a lean condition at idle.

Is there anyway I can share the video??Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

I have an intermittent squealing or squeaking sound that I observe after a few minutes of startup. There was a single instance that my wife and I heard it when I was driving around slowly.

While I was having lunch together with the lead technician and the rest of the team, I described it to him. He said one possible cause is the auto tensioner.

One of them immediately checked it after we took lunch and have taken pictures for warranty purposes.

By the way, I paid for their lunch. It's my way of building good relationship with them.

@gopi.sandy A video would be great. You can upload one to another server and link it here.

Often times bearings will make noise right after start up, more often cold.

I personally have had two tensioner/idler bearings go out on the main drive side and one on the other side with the water pump tensioner as well (not present on the 06 and later).

I currently have one, the AC clutch bearing that is intermittent when cold. It is a weird one, like an electronic pig squeal.

Often times the power steering will make noise when starting. Check level?

It may be worth it to loosen the main drive belt and spin all the pulleys by hand. This will often reveal the culprit.

Good luck.

Did an oil change and after 50 miles or so the noise was gone. The oil was not looking great at all.

I believed the previous owners word when he said the oil was changed.
