Hey all,
Im not sure the proper way to introduce myself on this particular forum so Ill just do it now forgive me if this is not the norm. Hi everybody im D or DC whichever is fine with me or DR.Love if your feeling Randy j/k... But Im getting a new car in May. After my hours of endless thinking Im going to go with the mazda six. Now my problem is I dont know if I want the 4 or 6. This would be a no brainer for me if it was anyother car because unlike the mustang and chargers, solaras(my car) and most other cars it seems like there is more aftermarket parts for the less powerfull engine. Problem is if I go with the four and put CP-e intake, headers, magaflow catback, and a few other minor mods the v6 is still faster. Ive even seen turbo'd 4s with about 230hp. I know I could bolt that on, so from a modding standpointe im just not sure but im leaning towards the 6. INput would be much appreicated could save my 1000's of dollars. Sorry it was long Thank you |

Given the choice between the 4-cylinder and V6, I'll leave you with this philosophy: If you like to mod, get the 4-cylinder. If you want it straight out of the box, get the V6.
Either that, or get a MS6 and call it a day.

The MS6 is more of a marketing project with unproven reliablity and other issues. I think I'd trust a turbo'd 6i more than an MS6 at this point...

The V6 sound alone is worth it

The 4 cylinder engine is easier to get parts for, if that helps. Also, gas won't be this cheap for much longer, so engine size is something to consider if you have a lot of driving to do. I do like the V6, but out of the box, it's a little underpowered...luckily, headers and CAIs can do a lot for it.
Is this a car you want to track or will it be a daily driver, or both?

Assuming you're talking about racing at the strip, neither the 6i or the 6s is a car you'll want to be in. The MS6 is the only 6 I'd take to the drag strip, but then I'd be worried about snapping axles and killing the clutch.

assuming you talking about the first generation.....if the second, there are many mods out for either right now. And According to Car and Driver(or Motor Trend, can't remember), the second gen six really dosen't take too many engineering ideas from ford, they said the new Fusion and Six are pretty much unrelated engineering-wise with some shared parts
