I am considering making the purchase of a used 2005 Mazda 6i with limited features. What I want to know is how reliable have you found these cars to be? The car only has 35k miles, how long should I be without worry? Finally what type of gas mileage do you guys get with the 4 cylinder and what is your city/hwy?
Thanks |

![]() Its a reliable car, take care of it and it will take care of you. For an I-4 it still delivers power at 160hp, very fun and sporty car to drive. I have no regrets about it

I have a 6i with about the same amount of miles. As said above as long as you take care of normal maintenance the car will not let you down.
As for gas mileage i drive a mixture of 70% city 30% highway everyday and i am getting 27MPG. And thats driving aggressively.

Hello All,
Firstly, I am just normal car user (10k kilometres a year), not interested in tunning, just having a nice, middle-higher class car with some power. I am amateur in the car descriptions/features, etc as well, so please forgive some of my "strange" expressions. From the close friend, I have received offer: Mazda 6 - y 2004 Exclusive (Owner has chosen own car parts before it was build) 2.3 motor, 250 horsepower , 100k kilometres Full interior, GPS Never crashed, original car service told me car is like new that they didn't found any problems on the car. Car didn't have any serious problems e.g bad parts (gear, etc.) The price is 20% lower than average price on the adverts/bazaar Now what I am worried about is that even if I got green from mazda original service, I think there is something wrong with the steering. When I turn the wheel to the left, I hear some strange noises close to left wheel. It hears like something is hurdling. Friends told me it could be gear shift lever grip, brake pin. Mazda service told me that this is manufacture problem and they have received it before, but can't do anything about it. Can you please give me your opinion? Should I be worried about this steering problem? Is this really car for normal user who sometimes wants to power up? Many thanks Dusan |

Um...a 2.3L with 250HP? That doesn't make sense. The 2.3L I4 is at like 156HP. For a minute I thought maybe you were talking about the Mazdaspeed6, but that came out in 2006, so I don't think there's any way a 2004 with the 2.3L would have 250HP. Well, there's a slim chance that there's a turbo on there, but I don't think so.

Seriously consider a Nissan Altima. Fewer problems than the 6.
