I'd like to hear from anyone who drives an MS6 who used to drive a 6S or vice-versa. I have an '04 MTX 6S w/ Bose, Sport and Luxury packages which now has 69K miles on it. I'm considering the speed 6, but I'd be interested to hear from current owners whether or not it's worth the add'l $ - both in terms of purchase price and incremental insurance costs, reliability etc.
Thanks in advance!

This thread should help somewhat
I can tell you I had a coworker who leased a 6s, and tried out my speed6 several times. He practically said he would rather save up some money and buy a speed6 if he could, but he rather stay with the lease mainly because he was still tied to it for another 2 years or so.

I owned an '05 6s for 1 year before Mazda bought it back and gave me a Speed6....at the time they cost the same so it was a no brainer. But, IMO the Speed is better in every aspect except there's no Hatch option.
BTW my insurance went up a whopping $2 every 6 mths

I used to have an 04 6s. The MS6 was an amazing upgrade. Faster, better gas mileage, stiffer and more sporty suspension, more aggressive appearance, etc. There isn't anything you can say that would be negative upon the upgrade.

i used to own a 2004 M6s MTX with the bose, lux, sport packages. i also own a 2005 M6s, it's amazing how different the speed6 drives compared to the M6s. steering is night & day different, not to mention acceleration, etc.
speed6 is a great step up. well worth the extra costs.

I wouldn't necessarily call that a more 'aggressive appearance'.. I for one don't like the 'double bumped' hood.. and dont think it makes it more agressive looking. It actually makes the car look skinnier and the Mazda 6 wider, which I personally like...I think the MS6 looks more like the Mazda 3. But I definately cannot say anything else is better about the 6s than the Speed6 (besides the price that is always going to be a negative, even if its made up for by performance)
The Speed is a much faster, and from what I understand outhandles the Mazda 6, given.. but that doesnt mean that a Mazda 6s that was modified, (not NA) couldnt destroy a Speed 6... The big difference here is that we are comparing a turbo-charged AWD car, with a NA FWD car.. and thats really a tough stretch to try to compare.. They are in totally different classes.

Here's a negative of the Speed6: Premium gas. Though, overall both cars are nice compared to non m6/ms6 cars.

...and no rear diffs to blow on the 6S....
... and the hickups that the MS6 has with it's power delivery (engine tuning i guess) would be a negative for me.... still would rather have the MS6 |
