I am looking at buying a 2006 Mazda 6 Wagon GS with GFX Package with 0km in Toronto Canada. The list is $30,695 right now with $4500 cash back. The Freight, PDI and Gas Tax is waived. So the car is 26,195 + tax.
I have been doing lots of research about the car and overall looks good. The only thing that worries me at this point is the Duratec engine. In short should I be worried about reliability and gas milleage? My wife commutes to work approx 60km per day and we travel heavely in the summer to the cottage (that's why we need a wagon) and is a very reasonable driver. Our current car is 2002 VW Jetta 4cyl. that gets good milleage so I'm sure we'll see a decrease. Any comments or suggestions are appricated. Thanks everyone. |

It's not going to be in 4-banger range. Sorry. I regualrly get over 20mpg in mixed driving. On the highway it ekes up to 24 or 25. Not bad for 6 putting out over 200HP. That's with my heaviest-heavy ATX wagon and all options.
Reliability has been good. Under warranty, I got a CEL a that required a TCM update, the fan control module recall, and a crack in the exhaust manifold. Very happy. Every day I drive it, I still think how great this car is...
