Hi Guys/Gals,

I'm stuck on which one to get.

What were the deciding factors for those who were choosing between these two vehicles?

I've been quoted really low prices on the Legacy GT LTD ~ 24,700 thanks to rebates and i've been noticing a drop in prices recently on the Mazdaspeed 6.

A big difference for me is that I only see the MS6 Sport dropping to the low to high 24-25k range where as the LGT is already in that range and has leather/sunroof.

But I wouldn't mind getting a MS6 sport if it was a better car overall.

Discuss!

Spec wise, they match up very well on all fronts - the determining factor for me was "Looks" inside and out - I simply prefer the looks of the MS6 over the Subaru (and i will not spend this type of cash on a car that doesn't visually appeal to me) . Also, there is only one subaru dealership where I'm from and I prefer a little healthy competition amoung dealers in order to provide me with better service and an option to "take my business else where" if I need it.

For me it was the weak brakes and floppy suspension. I drove the cars back to back and the Speed 6 really impressed me all the way around. The Subie Accelerated very nice but was lacking in the brake and susp department. Of course if you look at the SpecB GT then that is a different story but they also cost a bit more. I will say I really did like the interior of the Subie but the Speed looks way better on the outside IMHO.

I agree with ManyMazdas ... I test drove the Legacy GT before my MSP6 came in and was considering getting it just because the delay on the MSP6 was so long. But I couldn't get over the very plain exterior look (minus the nice aggressive but not over bearing hood scoop) and the interior was very plain as well. Performance wise, what a fun car to drive, I wouldn't have any complaints there.

I evaluated the LGT before selecting my MS6. Here's why I chose the MS6:

• MS6 gas audio aux-in (e.g. for XM radio or iPod). LGT does not.
• MS6 has steering wheel audio controls; LGT does not
• MS6 has HID with leveling control; LGT has halogens
• MS6 turbo lag is a little less than LGT
• MS6: 6-speed; LGT: 5-speed
• MS6 available with NAV
• LGT dual-climate control is funky. It's always dual-climate; you can't set pass. and driver temps to be set simultaneously with just one dial; you always have to turn two dials.
• MS6 has the white/black leather interior (which is something I like).
• MS6 has better stock audio system, including subwoofer on rear deck.
• MS6 has auto-down windows; LGT does not
• MS6 has better keyless entry functions

That being said, the LGT does have some cool things the MS6 lacks:
• Mirror-mounted turn signals
• Sun visor extensions
• Trip/mpg computer
• Nicer instrument cluster
• Split 60/40 rear seat

I went with the speed for the following reasons:

MS6 handles better stock (upgrades to the Legacy can acheive this easily)
MS6 has the 6 speed tranny
I see Legacy GTs every day everywhere I go...I have only seen 1 MS6 in the last 6 months i've owned it
Also I love the looks of the MS6 where the Legacy looks like a Camry

However I would look into the 2007 Legacy GT Spec. B
6 speed STi transmission
Upgraded Bilstein suspension
Auxilary input
3 mode driving selector (fuel save, regular, and race modes)

I got the Sport Speed over the Legacy and I love it. I like the interior better, the audio controls are a plus, handling, and braking are superior... Not to mention I got a smokin deal on the Speed. I did not like the LEgacy's interior leather, it was not as comfy for me. I also thought that the speed felt bigger inside, not as cramped...

IMO you can't go wrong with either car. Take a drive or two or three and see what you like best. Living in NE I see many Subies, but I don't think I have seen a single MS6; plenty of 6s, but no MS6.

Other factors:
Where is the dealer for any service?
Aftermarket GFB desires?

If you ever think you will modify your car, the legacy is the better choice. It has a vast aftermarket, and you can even swap in a full sti drivetrain if you feel so inclined.
