So my girlfriend took her car in today to get her oil changed, when she went to pick it up they told her all of her tires where over inflated by 70psi. She is running perelli p zero nero's and they said they should be inflated to 30 psi (which sounds about right). My question is, is it really possible to over inflate a tire by 70 psi and drive around on it for about 3,000 miles without it blowing out? I guess we need to talk to her mom's boyfriend who inflated them last. More so just a curious question, thanks guys!

I doubt it is possible to over inflate to 70psi and ever more to not notice it
I usually overinflate to 40psi when I go to the track and believe me I notice a lot
The comfort is all gone as the tires don't absorb any road imperfection, it is all transmitted to your back.

I can't believe someone could inflate a tire to more than 50psi without realizing!

Yeah I'm kinda thinking the tech at the oil change place read it wrong not sure though. She drives pretty aggressively and I would think something would have happened to those tires by now if that was the case.

Overinflated by 70psi would mean 70psi above normal. 30psi + 70psi = 100psi! I have a hard time believing any street tire could handle this.

Are you sure the tech didn't say the tires were overinflated by 7psi? That's a lot more plausible.

The tech probably meant. Overinflated to 70psi. My ASX's are 44psi IIRC . I doubt as well the tires would fare very well for long if at all with 100 psi.

That's unbelievable. Hopefully, that was a verbal mis-communication because I don't see how that would work out at all. I get scared seeing even a number like 35 psi when I'm inflating my tires... hahahaha. I tend to keep mine around 32.

+1 to this post. Over inflated by 70 is a completely misunderstanding. It's not gonna happen.
