I have a 2006 mazda 6i with the original stock Michelin Pilots. Got 57k out of them and need to replace them soon. I do not want to get another set of these as they are too expensive and don't handle well on wet roads. I live in Dallas, so ice/snow driving is really not relevant. What would be a good tire that would get 50k miles and not cost over $125 per tire?

What size wheels/tires? General Exclaim UHP are decent for the money.

215/50/17 .....I'm leaning towards the Yokohama Avid W4S.....or the Continental Conti-extreme Contact's.....was thinking about the Eagle GT's ......but don't know if I would get good mileage out of them.

IMO, check out: General Exclaim UHP Kumho Ecsta SPT Yokohama S.drive Of the three, both the Kumhos and Yokos have tested well in Tirerack testing, and there are more than a few members here riding on the Kumhos that swear by them. |

I like my Exclaim UHP's, not sure if you'd get 50K out of em. I think I'm at 7 or 8/32" at ~10K, but I drive the car a little aggressive. Regardless, I'm happy with how they're wearing considering they cost me around $430 mounted/balanced w/ RoadHazard...but damn Wal-Mart for scratching my rims, that's what happens when you go cheap, live and learn I guess
