I know someone that wants to get rid of a set of RX-8 wheels for $100. They have several scratches/gashes. I'm gonna ask him to take some more pics so I can see how bad they are.

My question is, is it worth it? and can should I be able to sand down/repaint them to get rid of most of the gashes?

also, is there any good way to tell if these are bent? $100 seems really cheap and brings up some red flags.

to tell if they're bent, put them on a balancer or something like that and watch them go... if they're bent you'll see it

If they are not bent and just chewed up I would buy them, powdercoat them, and have a set of sexy rims on the cheap. Powdercoating will not make all of the imperfections dissappear but 2 coats and you would be hard pressed to find the damage. I had mine powdercoated for $250 (all 4). If they aren't bent buy them!

If not bent buy them for sure, or give me his info and I'll buy them lol
like already stated, scraped and nicks will virtually disapear with a good powdercoat.

Best way to tell if they're bent without a balancer is to look at the inner lip and let your brain do the rest.

That is dirt cheap, however I did pick up a set with only minor scratches (I'd give them a 9/10) for $250. It's certainly possible to find a curbed set selling for less. Definitley check the balance.

$100 rims + powder coat is a hot deal.

pics are small, but in that top picture, it looks like the rim on the right side may be a little bent, look towards the bottom left part of the wheel
