I work at Discount tire... 225/45/18 shouldn't rub, but if they are 215/45/18 also came stock on the 2008 6 v6, if any other problems, then it's possible that the offset is wrong (i.e. they accidently got the wrong offset in)

hm. i have 17" rims on my 6 with 225/45/17's I got from the Tire Rack...they said they should be fine despite Mazda recommending 215/50/17's and I'm having scraping problems in the rear. the mechanic thought the shocks were weak and replaced them, and its a bit better? but still scraping, I think I'm going to call the Tire Rack and see what they say...
does it make sense that that small of a difference would do that though? im hoping that the precious owner didnt screw with the springs or anything, though the mechanic didn't find anything wrong...thoughts?

The stock tires on the GT model are 235/45R18.
Have you thought about your car having an entirely different problem that's casing the rub on that particular side? Check the right-hand rear suspension. You might have a bad shock absorber or a broken spring.

Ended up rolling the fenders a while back and everything's fine now. I guess the wheels were a just a bit too wide or something since there were no spacers and the offset was already pushed far back but everything works fine now, used one of the rolling tools and once i figured it out it worked like a breeze.
When I bought the car it came with the nice rims so it seems kinda weird to me that the previous owner didnt notice/do anything about it, but whatever, now on to bigger and better things! thanks guys
