Right now I have 18x7.5 +50 with 225/40 on with no roll, I don't have any rubbing. According to wheel/tire size comparer this setup sticks out 15mm/.5" further than stock.

I'm looking at rims that are 18x8 +45 with 235/40 tires. The site says this will stick out 25mm/1" further than stock. I'm wondering if these will fit with a roll. It'll be very close and I'm wondering if anyone else is running this setup.

I went outside and measure the fender lip with a caliper. Seems like the lip is about 15-17mm wide and about 3mm in thickness so maybe if I roll all the way I'll get a ~12mm gain, which is a very rough estimate. Theoretically I should be able to fit them, but again the estimates aren't accurate. What do you guys think?

You should be alright with a complete roll in the back.
225 would be guaranteed not to rub, but a little small for an 8 inch rim.
Good luck

I have 18x8 +48 with 235/40, and I'm fine with a roll. I think +45 is about the least amount of offset you can get away with on this car, even with a full roll, a few people here are running that setup I believe with no problems.

I've got 225/45 on my RX8 rims and don't think they are too small at all. It's actually stock size on the RX8's.

ok, first of all, 18x8 should go with a 225/40/18 with no rub, and no need for rolling the fenders. second, rx-8's come with the 225/40/18 bfg g-force sports, or at least they did in 07 when i was on every mazda lot from nashville, to myrtle beach. I work for a major tire and wheel distributor. Any questions feel free to ask away. email me at xander_wilde@yahoo.com and put mazda6forum questions in the header

Lol..I was at Mazda 2 days ago and every RX8 there had 225/45...And I bought my wheels with the stock tires and they are that size...But no use arguing semantics. Either way, a 225 should be okay depending on the offset.

i'm running an 18x8 +45 wheel with a 225/40/18 tire. my fenders are rolled and i have zero rubbing with a little bit of space to spare. if you have aggressively rolled fenders, then i think that you'll be fine. i will be going to a 235 tire once these ones wear down a big more and i'm not too worried about getting them to fit.
