Pretty bent out of shape right now. Ordered a set of Rims/Tires from a shop over the weekend only to get a call this morning that they had discontinued that make/model rim. So i went back up there today and after taking 2 hours to find the rim I wanted this is the setup that "will work fine" according to the Rim/tire guy.
18x7.5 Akita AK6 Rims - 40mm offset 235/40/18 Tires I double checked here on the forums to be sure this guy wasn't talking out of his you know what... and sure enough it seems as though 40mm offset is strongly frowned upon. From what I gather it's basically a NASTY fit given the selected tire width. Am i correct in thinking this dude's out of his mind in thinking this setup will fit? The car is lowered on HTECHs and he knows full well about that. Im hoping this setup will fit and at the least I will have to downgrade to 225 tires and not 235.... but im still under the assumption after all that I have read that the 40mm offset is just way too small. Any help is much appreciated... we financed these rims over the weekend... and after getting the call this morning that the rims i purchased were not available this place hasn't exactly been courteous about taking the time to get me with a setup i want... then again, they have the money now so there ya go. +1 for customer service.

i saw cancel the order unless you are getting a GREAT deal on them. go on MOCC, there's a guy on there that works at America's Tire Co....bit of a drive, but he's a good guy. i'm sure he can help a bit. though they don't do financing if that's what you are looking for.
what rims are you looking at also. and you might be able to get away with the 40mm if you get some camber in there. i run a 35 offset on my current daily setup. i will also part with my 18x7.5's that i have depending on what style you are looking for?

There's no way those rims are going to fit with 235/40 tires, I personally think you should get 225/40 tires anyways no matter what. The rims MAY fit with 225/35 tires, but that is the only way they will fit without rolling the fenders and putting some negative camber in.
My setup is 18x7.5 with a 42 offset and 225/35 tires. My fenders aren't rolled and they are JUST squeezing by. So, if I had to guess, I would say that the extra 2mm is going to make your setup rub even with 225/35 tires. So in conclusion, either don't get those rims or have your fenders rolled. |

not saying to get them obviously, but if you are putting 225's on the car with anything under 48mm i'd say you should roll your fenders. you have too worry a bit too much in my opinion with people in the car, things in the trunk....it's just not worth it. i've shaves several tires, and it can get scary/irritating.
i've run 48's, 45's, 42's and 35's on my car....most said the 35's wouldn't fit for squat. but i was also running a 225/45/17's, so i had some room to spare, though my car sits pretty low at the track as well. so start by going over to Autobacs some friday morning, and having him roll your fenders, then you at least have that part out of the way.

Ok so fender roll is almost a must with this setup i gather?
I will go down to 225 tires undoubtedly.. now with the 225/40/18 tire and this 40mm offset this seems "acceptable" but i will be pushing it because of the offset. I'd have a look into your rims MrT but im STUCK on a black rim of some sort.

yeah, even with the roll, unless you put some camber in there it will be tight. i know the rear will fit with camber, and that's an easy one. the front though, you can't do camber there so i'm not really sure.
like i said, i'd stray away from them if possible. hit up that guy on MOCC, those guys always help me out, not him, but i use America's tire a lot. i've spent a few grand there and rims and tires for the 6 over the years. as far as mine.....me, black....never

people are too conservative on this forum. that will probably fit but you need to roll and still worry about rubbing. and the offset calculator is your friend.

I would say +40 offset will be really tight, if it does fit. Rolling the fenders is a must for that size.
