For example, the RX8 rim R16x7,5 Offset 50mm with 225/55 rub a little in the rear with passenger in the rear seat with Eibach. A 225/50 fit better
Stock R16x7 Offset 55mm with 205/55 fit perfectly (an Eibach Pro Kit)
Just an idea
I think with 42mm you will have to roll your rear fender.

I have to agree, but since your car is not dropped, i don't think it's gonna be an issue if you're not driving anyone around or lugging alot of weight.

I have 16" rx7 +50 offset wheels with 225/50/r16 tires and they rubbed right off the bat with 4 adults, however, my car was dropped 1" in the rear.

I have the 16" RX8 wheels, not lowered, and didn't have a rubbing issue even when I loaded up a rear corner. However, if I had been lowered, no doubt there would be rubbing. With the stock 205/60 Michelins on the RX8's, its a little better, but still pretty close. You should get away with a +42 offset with stock size tires and a fender roll, but its questionable after that.
