Hurt? That's a good question...I know there's TCS issues on some cars when
you stagger the wheels....I just don't think there's a valid application for staggered
wheels on an MS6, other than appearance. There wouldn't be much need for more
rubber in back of this car as it's not a primarily RWD car. I really want to go
wider all around, and keep 'em inline for bad weather=better traction. It's an
interesting idea though...

I turn the DSC off as soon as I turn the car on, so traction control is not an issue for me. I was mor worried about the rear being as weak as it is would the extra trac in the rear cause problems.

I don't think it would. This car can't really overpower the rear tires unless you
really try, the rear sticks like glue....I don't think if you add more traction you'd
have a problem. Are you trying to resolve a traction issue with the rear end, or just
inquiring to potentially prevent one?

On a hard straight launch, this car doesn't spin tires on me. I jump forward
with a little squeak of a chirp. I don't race my car, though. People are strapping
the rear to help with rear diff issues. I'm wondering how much extra traction you'd
get with say a 3/4 inch wider tire that might effect the rear diff...considering it's
hard enough to spin the rears on stockers. As far as cornering goes, if the rear
didn't break free as easy, I'd think it's better for the rear, because torque is applied
at a constant pressure, rather than slip..then grab jolt it may receive...Just being
hypothetical here...I wouldn't say there's a terrible additional risk to the drive train.

One of my friends with an WRX ran wider wheels in the front for more grip when turning. The difference wasnt that big though.

How wide were you planning on going? I dont see the need for staggerd wheels and personally think it is a bad idea on awd. I do think there is a need for`wider wheels as I now have 8.5's. I have a post about it further down on here.
Edit:

You can staggerd as long as all 4 wheel weight the same. I know some 3SI community like to run staggerd like 18 by 8.5 235/45/ and 18 by 9.5 275/40. I think they run like 50 psi in the front and 30 PSI in the rear to try and make the wheel balance out.
