I'm shopping for tires right now and was surprised to see how well the HTR ZIII did in Tire Rack's testing ( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...ay.jsp?ttid=93 ). It performed comparably to likes of Advan Sports and RE050A Pole Positions for considerably lower price (137/tire).

I was not impressed at all by HTR ZII which I had on my last car but it looks like Sumitomo went backt to drawing board and got things figured out.

Sounds like these are pretty new but I'm curious if anyone's had any experience (1st or 2nd hand). I'm considering these as an alternate choice to the Bridgestone S-03 Pole Positions which are on closeout at Tirerack for $129. I'll be buying tires/rims at the same time so I'm limited by Tirerack's offerings.

Between these two tires which would you get? Thanks for any input.

I came off of Bridgestone's RE-01Rs to the HTRZ III. They don't grip quite as well but that's to be expected. However they do grip very well. I picked these tires before any test results came out because I had a feeling they would be slightly better then the Kumho SPTs I had intended to buy at roughly the same price and much much cheaper than replacing the RE-01Rs. (money constraints suck) I had my reservations because the HTRZ 2s sucked...

the sidewalls are good and stiff, steering response is good. they work great on damp roads but don't care for deep puddles. They let you know when you're approaching the limit with a bit of noise. they should last a while too.
