I have been doing some research (searching the boards :P) to see if this will work, but so far I've found that it might rub.... Anyone have this setup? Or, does anyone know for a fact that it will or will not work? Finally, if someone just wants to provide a link that will be ok too. Thanks in advance!!

Oh, I have a 06 speed6 with stock suspension.

edit: I've been playing with the wheel/tire size calculator found in the sticky above (http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp) and found some quotes..

Tire Guy: Also, note: there is no guarantee that the 245 widths will fit (again, serious modifications may be necessary) but the tires listed meet the criteria for acceptable replacement and plus sizing.

Stretch: With your fenders rolled as much as possible, you MIGHT get the following combinations to work: a 245 wide tire on a +50 wheel.

So, has anyone tried this? I pretty sure that I will have to roll the fenders, but i'm ok with this.

I heard of people getting by with 235's but I don't think anyone has tried 245's yet...

i know for sure people have ran 245's but they had to do a sever fender roll you will for sure rub if you dont roll your fender. i have 235's with a lowered car and still to this day have not rubbed, but that does not mean that you will rub if you go with a 235. many people do rub with a 235 tire i guess i am just lucky. oh by the way i have rx8 wheels too.

here is a link about tire sizes it helped me out a lot and i am pretty sure i remember reading about someone running a 245 tire in this thread. http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?show...mp;hl=235+tires

Yeah, but not a 45 profile. You'd look like an SUV.

I'd go with 235/40/18 to keep the diameter correct.

Alternatively, you could go with 245/40/17 or 245/45/16.

You'll have to roll your fenders regardless of which you choose. I had horrible rubbing with 225's on 8" wide, 47 offset wheels.

The reason I ask about a 245/45 combo on RX-8 Wheels is because I have a friend selling his for a good price and i'm thinking about buying them... The tires have hardly any miles on them.....

So, I will have to roll regardless with the 245. I'm assuming the 45 means its a little more "fatter" tire, has more tread? So, I will have to roll but it should fit?

edit: And I'm assuming Rx-8 wheels are +50 offset....

The 45 means that the length of the sidewall is 45 percent of the section width of the tire. The 245 means that the widest part of the inflated tire is approximately 245 mm wide. So the distance from rim flange to the outer tread of a 245/45 tire is 45 percent of 245 mm, or about 110 mm.

The amount of tread (the contact patch where the rubber meets the road) is mainly determined by the pressure to which you inflate the tire, and will be the same for any tire of any size that you can fit to the car.

At 26.6 inches tall, they're over an inch taller than stock. I don't recommend that at all, as that is more than 3% taller than original equipment (3% being the limit). I think you'd likely have rubbing and/or other issues.

I bought the wheels and tires today and will be picking them up tomorrow. The tires are practically new so if it doesn't work out I can always sell the tires. I'm just glad that I have 6 Rx-8 wheels now :P I should sell two of them so that I can buy tires that actually fit without a roll.

Thanks for all your help and I will be updating soon!

i don't know why u didn't listen to everyone and still went with a bad decision...

you're 4.1% off so you'll have slower steering, slower acceleration on dimentions alone. now account for 5lb+ increase on unsprung mass, you're just stacking bad on top of bad.
