Powdercoating is pretty much the same thing as painting, but with a different material (i'm not positive if the material is a powder or what).

There's two steps when powdercoating. You have to have the rims either sandblasted or glass/plastic blasted to take off whatever is already on the rims and prepare a rough surface to coat, and then you have to have them coated.

It is just as strong, if not stronger, than paint; many people have told me that it is much stronger than paint.

You can get it in any and every color you want.

It is expensive. When I was researching getting my RX8 rims powdercoated, I was quoted $240 to blast them, and $400 to coat them. That's here in RI tho, i'm sure you could find cheaper prices somewhere else.

its is basically coating the surface of a wheel with poweder, then baking the wheel to make the powder stick. it is supposed to be much stronger than paint, but it is very expensive.

you can find places that charge about $75 a wheel. Frantic paid that much with a lil service charges and stuff. i think the total was close to $400 to coat all four wheels.

they normally have a wide variety of colors, not just black

they don't get scratched EASILY, but they can get scratched just like any other coating. quality is a lot better than spray paint so it's worth the money.
