I was wondering if it was a good idea to run Hancook icebears when I dont have much snow. I want these for the rims and having the tires with 80% tread on them is good. would you all run winter tires when there isnt really a winter? im located in AR.

It depends. Some winter tires are pretty good on dry pavement, others feel like you're wearing snow boots when you drive. If your area gets ice storms, a good set of winter tires could be a big advantage. I've been in slow traffic on ice when using winter tires and have been amazed by how much more traction I had than folks on all-season tires. I've used a number of different winter tires, the Bridgestone Blizzaks seem the best in real snow, the Pirelli (damn, can't remember the model - Scorpion or something?) tires have been the best driving tires and are OK in snow, great on ice.
I would check out the Tire Rack website and see wat info you can find. Good luck! Chris |

I put on my snows within a day of the first predicted snow fall and leave them on until I feel comfortable that we will not get anymore signifigant snow. They are louder, the are softer in ride quality and response, plus if you run them hard they will chunk, in short, rollin on snows should be avoided at all costs unless you think your gonna have snow because you cannot run them hard without runiing them.,..

The snows will be fine. My tow vehicle (yukon xl) runs snows all year round. I drive very few miles with it so the faster wear is no issue. If they're a true max traction snow tire, they'll squirm quite a bit more than a performance tire but you'll get used to it.

I have a set of icebears that I used last winter. Being in Boston, MA where it doesn't snow much, the icebears ran great in bare pavement. It's not noisy as it's not a full blown snow with them huge nubbies. You'll be fine.
