Just a quick heads up. I decided to give the new Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season XL tires a try on my MS6 with the stock wheels. I got the 225/45ZR-18 size. Both Goodyear and Tire Rack listed the minimum wheel size as 7". It was a close thing, but the wheel saver lip on the tires hung up on the bead during the installation, and the tire just wouldn't quite slide over the bead. I certainly do not think that it was a problem with the shop doing the installation (CBRD Speedfactory in York, PA).

I am not going to say that there is not way to make this tire work on stock wheels, but just a warning about the difficulty I had with mine.

Guess that I will be getting those Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires after all.

You lucked out. If the shop had managed to squeeze the tires onto the rims, your performance would have suffered. It is never a good idea to use the narrowest rim that is nominally approved for a tire. Better to get wider rims than to have sidewalls that are canted in several degrees from vertical. You are considering going with some Bridgestone tires; are you going to try to squeeze 225/45R18 Bridgestone tires onto the same rims?

That actually was my original plan. However, I have been thinking about the whole size thing. I can not afford to get different wheels right now, so I think that I may have to just stick with the stock tire size. Of course, this means that I don't get to run the RE960's.

UPDATE: Just found out I am getting a bonus at work. I just got done ordering a set of Flik Hornets in 18x7.5 ET48. I will post up any fitment issues that I have and a review on the Flik wheels. They are inexpensive, and I have not found much negative reivews, so...

Interesting. I just got back from the tire shop where I had Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season XL 225/40ZR-18's mounted on my stock wheels. They seem to fit fine, shop had no problem mounting them, but from reading through the forum, this is probably not the best idea. So I plan to go back and either switch them out (came with a 30-day trial period) or I might just buy new wheels.

225/45 are an alternate size in place of the 215/45 that are stock according to the tire size sticky. Just read a review in a magazine, think it was Modified Magazine, on the Eagle F1 and they gave it good reviews. Was thinking of these, but I guess not if they won't fit.
