Recently i've been checkin' out Falken-512 225/40/18 on RX8 wheels,
for some reasons, they have these crazy deals on certain falken512, certain size,
and the 225/40/18 falls in to the crazy deal catagory.
and the 235/40/18 are no-deal....and may risk rear rubbings.

nevertheless, my Pirelli Nero M+S was rated 93 Load rating same as the OEM Potenza.
but the Falken 225/40/18 are @ 92 load rating...so is this not acceptable?

ie;
Load indexound(lbs):kilogram(kg) - 92:1389lbs:630kg on Falken , 93:1433lbs:650kg on Pirelli/potenza

please advice

using math (don't know if that's how it works or not), that means the front of your car can handle 2778lbs... so if our car weighs 3600lbs, w/ a what, 65% front bias? that's 2340lbs, so i think you're good.

until i guess you pound on the brakes and put like 85% of your weight on your front tires...

although i figure the manufacturer of the tires would account for this...

hmmm.... say if i have 5 people in my car avg weighting 150lbs...(750lbs totaled) and if i add that to my car's weight roughly 3600lbs, thats 4350lbs...
and 65% of that is 2828lbs, that supposingly won't work w/ tires w/ load index lower than 94

nevertheless, since the MS6 and MZ6 come with EBFD (electronic brake force distribution) will the front bias should be alwayz <50% when hard braking?
please correct me if i'm incorrect.

There is the load index (in this case, 92 or 93), and then there is the load capacity, the amount of load the tires can safely bear. The load capacity is dependent upon the pressure to which you inflate your tires. Generally, the higher the pressure, the higher the capacity, but a standard load tire tops out at 35-36 psi, gains no capacity at higher inflation levels, while an XL or Reinforced tire can gain additional capacity with pressures up to 41-42 psi.

I assume this is a Mazdaspeed, right? In that case, the sticker inside your door jamb probably specifies 38 psi inflation. If so, and if: (1) the Falkens are XL rated, and (2) you want to be sure you are within spec, then simply add a pound of pressure, run at 39 psi, and sleep well at night.

so upon your reply,
on my MS6, i should put in at least 39psi on a 92W 225/40/18 j/ to be safe? correct me if i'm wrong please~

That why I always try to check the Load Index and the Speed Rating before buy a new tire. If I can, I prefer to upgrade to a highter load index

You are probably just fine with your load index 92 tires filled to the pressure stated on your door jamb.

If your new tires are 92XL, you will get more load capacity by adding pressure above 38 psi, and a 92XL tire at 39 psi has the same carrying capacity as a 93XL tire at 38 psi. If your new tires are standard load (92 load index, no XL), going from 38 psi to 39 psi does not gain you more load capacity (officially).
