Read the FAQ:

The wheel offset for the US-spec 6 is: +55mm - +60mm
The wheel offset for the other 6/Atenza models is: the European Mazda6's 16" and 17" rims come with an offset of +55mm. The bolt pattern is 5x114.3. -- Thanks Driver6 (Thorsten)!

is that calculator accurate? i'm kinda scared of buying wheels that are 48 offset, 18 x 7.5 inch wheels...i have my eye on rota torque wheels.

Those wheels are absolutely fine, just need to watch what tire you put on it. I believe you want to go with a 225 series without having to roll fenders. Think that will even work if lowered without a fender roll? I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

I have 225/40ZR18s on Mazdaspeed OEM rims, also lowered about 3/4 of an inch on Mazdaspeed springs. No fender roll.

well the offset makes your car look better, that's for sure. That's how I understand it. Cause the stock ones on my 03 Mazda 6 2.3 are +60mm
but my other set have and offset of +40mm (So there is a big difference).

Well the lower the number, the worse it will be, since the stock ones on 6i are +60mm and my other are +40mm. So the +40mm offset would have a bigger area underneath your car, when you gona drive, and it will be a little bit more stable. (+it also depend what tires you got)
So this is +20mm difference. bassicly they stick more to the outside. The tires come righ where the fenders are. So that why I had to take mine off. Until i will get new Spring and shocks.
Like on the +40mm whenever i was driving alone it was fine. But a few times I got 4 people and it rubbed badly. And besides my milage is just under 45000, so it's time to change my shoks.

And since the factory ones cost the same as Bilstein heavy duty, i think I would rather go with Bilstein, or Koni (a lot of people are telling me about them , but they are slightly more expensive).

read the one website that I suggested. And you'll understand what offset means.
