Hello people:

i got a new set of RX-8 18'' stock wheels for my mazdaspeed6. Now i'm looking for a new set of tires which do not need fender roll or could cause rubbing. Any suggestion? i made a quick forum research and these are what others use with their RX8 stock rims:

235/40/18 Azenis RT-615 tires
225/40/18 Kumho Ecsta SPT
225/40/18 KUMHO AST
Falken Ziex ZE-512 235/40ZR18

kindly confirm if those above mentioned do not cause rubbing or fender issues and please add any other choice if exists...

Thanks

:-)

I have Falken Ziex ZE-512 235/40ZR18 on my RX-8's. You should not have to roll with this size on you MS6 from what I have read.

Picture of naturally stretched, they look stretched when they are not. Falken Ziex ZE-512 235/40ZR18 are made to fit a Rim Width Range of 8 - 9.5 inches. If you don't already know, the RX-8's are 18x8.

I have the Kumho Ecsta SPT tires in 235/40-18 on my RX8 wheels. Fits great with no stretch! No fender rolling required.

Hi Phantom,

Thanks for reply. Forgive my ignorance. I've read the words "no stretch" or "naturally stretched" a couple of times in this topic. What you guys mean with that. Is that good or bad?

Thanks

streched is when the the wheels -look wider than the tread. so the sidewalls look angled angled like \ as opposed to | when looking at them from the front of the car.

does that make sense?

vw's and a lotta europeans do this to fit wider wheels and imo looks extremely stupid.

hmm, so... wider wheels on thiner tires? so i guess my tires are streched now. That's why i want new tires. I'm using RX8 stock wheels on my Mazdaspeed6 stock tires. They look strange. There is a small wheel lip which is a bit outside of tire.

So, to avoid that on my RX8 wheels i guess i must choose 225 or more instead of 215 for my tires right?

Right...but some tires appear stretched although they're not. Our 215 tires look fine on a 7" stock rim...225's also look okay on a 7" rim. Take it to 7.5", the 215 will start to angle the sidewall, while the 225 looks okay. Take it to an 8" rim, a 215 looks too small, 225 may be iffy, a 235 starts to look normal.

With the 8" rim, I would probably go with a 235, most others here have them and stated they have not needed a roll.

Here's a quick and dirty internet search on a stretched tire...
