I do not know if I am posting this in the right place, or even if I am allowed to post this here, but let me go ahead and share what I am doing.
I have contacted a supplier who has been making wheels for quite a while now, and he has agreed to make a mold for me to make the 18x8 RX8 wheels. Ofcourse this mold is very expensive to make, but after seeing the demand for the RX8 wheels I think it would be interesting especially becuase spring/summer is coming up. The wheels will be an exact REPLICA of the rx8 wheels. It will be exactly to spec, from the centerbore, to the size, offset, and finish. I am basically giving the guy an RX8 wheel and have him making a replica. I've asked around for the legality, and I found some websites of people who have made replica wheels and their seems to be no issue if it is stated it is a replica and not listed as OEM. The weight of the wheel will be just like OEM also. Few Notes: Most wheels would probably arrive in the OEM finish of off-white of whatever color it is. Some wheels can be made chrome like the special edition rims on the RX8, that I believe came on the Shinka package. Lastly, I know many of you are thinking about price. Its hard to say, since its so early. I would say $699.99 would get you a fresh pair of brand new rx8 wheels out of the box. Let me know what you guys think! |

if you made them lighter than the stock weight, you'd be rolling in the cash.

Factors are price, timeline, and of course, how good the final product is

Guys dont quote me on the prices yet, becuase if it turns out little more or even less, I dont want to be held to it, just because this is the beginning.
I can say, The wheels will be available in May, and those who ordered them first, would have them shipped by then. As for the wheels in black: I am looking to make something that would be preferable to the mass of people. Feel free to open up what you guys would like, and think looks nice. As for removing the holes: That might be an idea? Think it would affect some people since they wont look "True OEM"? Preferably I would remove the holes too. If you guys want to go that way, that works too! |
