So this is the first winter I have had my 06 in, and wow, those are absolutely the worst tires ever!! No traction in a dusting of snow!! My rear driven Ranger is better in the snow!! And to top it, the other day I noticed my passenger front tire was low (13 psi), filled it up with some air and then went to the auto show here in detroit. When I got home that evening, I noticed that I was basically riding on my rim. They couldn't patch the tire, couldn't even find a spot to patch it. This tire retials for $217 bucks a piece at Discount Tire!! Can you believe that!! Who in gods name would pay that much for that shitty of a tire!! I was able to get Michellin to pay for 50% of the tire. Damn pissed off though, as my ride only has 10k miles on it. Arghhhhh!!!!!

I think those tires sell for around $125 at the Tire Rack. But yeah, they're horrible, I had them on the Accord I used to drive.

Maybe off topic, but I had Mishitllin All Terrains on my truck. First time I took off down the interstate (65MPH) I got a really bad vibration. I stopped and checked them and found they were all bubbled up and starting to come apart. I got them replaced and the second set did the same. I will never buy another Michellin. (Oh yah, traction sucked with those too) Anyway it doesn't suprise me that anyone else has problems with Michellins even though your tires are much different then the ones I had.

What do you expect from a French tire maker.

Yep......I had the same situation here about the tire pressure also.......I believe mine was about 13 psi.......I had to check the tires just about everyday, just to make sure they were all still inflated....

very weird...I have an '05 with these crappy Michelins...MY passenger front tire keeps losing air...same as you...about 13psi yesterday...new ones (who would buy these new???) are $195.00 at tire rack...I am thinking about some Kumhos that seem to be highly rated for wear, heat and traction while priced about $88 bux apiece...I only have 8800 miles so I have plenty of life left in the crappy Michelins but what a life, eh???

Sorry but I'll disagree with you. with just over 12k on my tires I did a 45 mile drive this morning in snow on non-plowed or salted city streets and expressways/tollways. I will rate the Michelins as "decent". No worse than any other OEM tire I've had on any other car, and better than some.

I was impressed with the 6's stability in the snow. This was my first trip in such weather with the car and obviously I was being a bit cautious until I got the feel of what it wanted to do on such crappy roads but I was pleasantly surprised with how sure-footed it was, even in the compltetly untraveled and snow covered left lane in many instances.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune with the damaged tire, obviously something out of the ordinary caused the failure, but unfortunately OEM tires are notoriously more expensive when purchased in the aftermarket.

So, Mazda6 owners with the Michelin tires, take heart. Driven with due consideration to the weather conditions you have a competent set of tires.

very interesting since we probably drove in the same snow this morning...I have NEVER owned a car where the tires slide ALL the time taking off from a stop...where they nearly slide EVERY time around corners (even when going slow)...where they slide many times coming to a stop AND activate the antilock brakes...and mine turned 8888 miles today...of course where salted they aren't bad but on side streets with less salt (and about 2 inches of snow)...I look like a drift racer (albeit at 20MPH)...

I drove in the snow in those before with my Accord. It took about 20 feet to stop from about 20km/h, with the ABS pulsing the entire time, that was pretty scary.

Ultra high performance all-seasons FTW!!! I love Mazda and my Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S
