I know this has been posted numerous times, but I'm thinking a sticky with what will work with the Speed6 would be helpful.

-----

Info to include:

Wheel size (diameter/width/offset/make/model)

Tire size and tire brand

Suspension (stock, aftermarket spring, make/model, etc)

Notes - fender roll, etc.

And having two areas would also be helpful - summer/winter.

-----

Just thinking, as I see a lot of posts asking these questions and this subforum seems to need some attention anyways.

i have been asking for a speed6 specific tire/wheel area (since the speed6 gets unique wheels and rotors unavailable on other 6's) but the admins havent taken kindly to it

+1 and they can be had pretty cheap, they are lighter than our boat anchors and easier to keep clean. Also it gives the guys/gals in those pokey rx-8s a well needed ego boost. JK

Is lightening your wheel going to do anything performance wise if you don't lessen the diameter as well?

Yes, especially as the weight is shifted toward the center of the wheel. Meaning, less weight in the rim reduces the work required to rotate the wheel to a greater degree than less weight in the hub. If memory serves, the moment of inertia is related to the square of the distance from the axis of rotation to the mass. This also means that of any two wheels of the same weight and distribution but different diamters, the smaller diameter one will require less energy to rotate. I used to know all this stuff in my college days, but all I remember was being absolutely amazed at how much energy it takes just to rotate the wheels and tires of a car at 60 m.p.h.

Mazda RX-8 6 Speed stock wheels
18 x 8
50mm off-set
Falken Azenis 235/40/18 RT-615 tires
Mazdaspeed Springs for V6 car
No Fender Roll
Absolutely no rubbing
Lovin' it.

Thanks for the info - keep it coming.

The RX-8 wheels people are speaking of; is it safe to assume that *all* Rx-8 models/years will fit?
