Hi Guys

Just wanting some advice or feedback on tyres. Have travelled 70,000kms on the stock Bridgestone Turunza ER30's and need to replace them. Probably going to stick with the stock size of 205/55R16 or maybe go to a wider 225/55R16 (does anyone know if this will fit ok, I have 7 inch rims). Anyway with my budget of under $200 AUD I have narrowed down down the choices to the following
- Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval $159 AUD
- Toyo Proxes 4 $145 AUD
- Kumho Ecsta SPT (KU31) $149
*Prices include fitting and balancing

I know there is a big following of the Toyo's and the Kumho's on these forums, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Firestones and how do they compare with the other two.

Thanks

225/50R16 is closer in overall diameter to your stock 205/55R16 (25.0 inches o.d. NOTE TO NORTH AMERICAN READERS: He is in Australia, which uses a smaller size than North America), though you can use the taller 225/55R16. Both sizes are approved for a 16x7 wheel. By the way, although I love the Proxes4, I can't imagine you having a need for all season tires in Australia! It appears there are a couple other options down under for a 225/50R16 which utilize a higher-performance summer compound:

Proxes T1R

Trampio Gu:wn

TEO Plus (available late 2006)

Since we only have the T1R in the US, that's the only one I have personal experience with and it is an excellent tire for handling and performance cornering and braking. You may want to investigate these three also to see if they fit in your budget.

See Toyo Australia for more details:

Ended up going with the Kumho SPT's. Had them fitted today. Decided to stay with the stock size 215/55R16. So I'll see how they go.
