I hit a pothole today. Didn't see it, but I sure felt it. Look what it did to my tire. Luckily it didn't scratch the rim very much.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do besides buy a new tire? Should I call my insurance and get them to bill the city for the damage?

Here's the pothole:

Go to the city hall of the town the pot holes in and talk to someone for like streets and roads department or just some kind of insurance department. The town has insurance for things like that so you should get on the phone or go to the city hall and ask around for who you should talk to. The same thing happened to me in what looked like a meteor crater and it bent both front rims and busted both tires. All was paid for by the town.

Yeah, its the city's responsibility to maintain them...if it causes damages like that, they will usually cover damages. I had that happen in my Jetta in a town and they paid for the wheel, tire, and got me a rental car for 2 days.

The problem is, I don't know if the street is a city one or private one. It looks more like an access road that leads to a mcdonald's and auto zone, but it also leads to an apartment complex.

See if it has a street name. If it doesn't, contact the property manager. Tell them you are a loyal customer of the three businesses and bitch. They apartment complex would know for sure. Either way, you should be able to get someone to pay for it.

I feel your pain. Potholes are the worse. My last car had 215/45/17, so the sidewall was even smaller. In less than 1 year, I dented 4 rims, and blew out 6 (yes 6) tires. I remember calling my salesman about it (being my first car with low-profiles)...he must've laughed when I asked about factory warranty! Needless to say, although the 6s sport has bigger sidewalls with the 215/50, I still always keep an eye on the road.

It never hurts to call the town hall. See who has responsibilty. Good thing you have pics. At the very least, they will patch it (hopefully), so it doesn't happen to you again.

I've emailed them but its the weekend so ya know. I also emailed Eric at TireSwap about it, he says there aren't any warranties (like the ones u can buy) but that he'll sell me a new tire at cost.

It's not a big deal seeing as how the proxes4 are cheap compared to regular road tires, however, I don't want to deal with all this unless I get compensated.

That sucks! If it's a city road, they should take care of it, one of my salespeople hit one on 270 & 23 a few years back and they paid for a new tire and rim. The placement in your case might be tricky but someone should pay for that. If it was in Columbus I know they have an office that handles that kind of thing, I'm assuming all the cities around here would have something similiar.
