Hey all. I am getting new tires this week. I was wondering what some of your top picks were. Gotta stay under 100 per tire. I am guessing 225/45/17 is the widest I can go. Has anyone heard of this tire? http://ssl.delti.com/tires-easy/start.html Riken Raptor Thanks for the input!

I got my Falkens for around 100 bucks per tires at Discount Tire for 205/50/17.
If you want cheap and a brand name your best bets are Falkens, Kumho, Hankook.

Why did you get 205/50/17. OEM tires are 215. I'm going up to 225. So you like the falkens. Cool. I don't understand why our stock michelins are so expensive. I wasn't impressed at all. I did however get 45k miles outta them. Thanks for the reply.

Goodyeay Eagle F1's GS D3's. I got a set for my MSP before I traded it, got them from tirerack. 88 bucks per tire on sale. Awesome tires, a little noisey but stick like crazy on dry/wet and look sexy.

In the 225 width, a 50-series tire is a better fit for the stock 7" rims than a 45-series tire. A 225/45 is likely to be closer to a 215/50 in overall diameter (closer match for speedometer and odometer readings, and little alteration in gear ratios), but a 225/50 is so close in diameter to a 215/50 (4/10 of an inch, more or less, depending upon brand variations on the one hand and amount of wear on the tire on the other), that there is no significant difference from a 215/50. The rim for a 45-series tire, however, really ought to be 85 percent of the section width: you should be mounting 225/45s on 7.5" rims. The reason is that the shorter sidewall has less flex, and less to "give" when you pinch it in to fit narrower rims, so the deforamation needs to be "borrrowed" from the tread portion of the tire. Many tire manufacturers will list a 7" rims as an "approved" rim width for a 225/45 tire, but none will list a 7" rim as a "recommended" or "measuring" width for that tire. In contrast, a 7" rim is the most commonly recommended width for a 225/50 tire. (For 50-series and above, the rule of thumb is that rim width should be 70 percent of section width.) |

Treadwear? Noise? Dry Cornering? Wet Cornering? Where do you live and what are the conditions of the road/weather where you live? What is your driving style? What did you like about the stock tires? What would you want your replacement tires to do better than the stock tires? Just saying 100 bucks per tire isn't saying much about what you want unless price is the only consideration. If you can answer the above questions, then I think people on this board could narrow down a recommendation for you pretty quickly.

Well, that is a good thought. I am looking for good all weather tires. I live in orlando. it rains almost everyday in the summer. So I need good wet traction. The winters are only 40 degrees and pretty dry. Would like roadnoise to be minimal. Treadwear above 340. Um I think that is about it. Been looking at the Nexan 3000 tires. anyone had any longivity experiences with those. Or overall experience! Thanks!
