the question is in the topic heading.

Toyo Proxes4 245x50x16.
Can it fit on a stock 16" wheel?

Too wide for the 7" stock rim. They'll probably rub. Besides, they'll bulge way too much, which isn't really safe, not to mention that /50 is too high with that width. Not a good idea IMHO. I'm running 215/55 on my stock 16"s.

i think the best is

225/55R16 99V 6.0-7.0-8.0

but since there is a 245/50 which in terms of diameter is the same as 205/60, wanted to know if anybody has done this.

i was going to run that tire... my only thing was i could not find a reasonably priced 245/50 so i went with a 225/55. as far as fitting the stock 16 inch wheel they will not. You will need a 8" rim.

Actually, the 245/50R16 is approved for as narrow as a 16x7 wheel, which the 6 factory wheel is. And it's the same height as the 205/60R16. It's just that being on the narrow end of the wheel-width range will not give you the full performance potential of the 245 width tire. As others have mentioned, running a tire like a 225/55R16 will allow the sidewalls to stand a little straighter and will give you improved handling. Probably better handling than the 245 on a 7 inch wide wheel. Now, put that 245 on an 8 inch wheel and you'll really see a handling benefit!

that said, toyoguy, where would I order this tires from? tireswap.com?

I am not going to auto-x, just spirited driving on streets, and some agressive off/on ramps.

That said, would the steering be better than the 205/60 or lousier i.e. softer?

I hope not.

Who cares if it'll wedge onto the wheel... what in the history of this site has EVER lead you to believe it'll actually fit on the car?!

They might, but it'll be unlikely. And besides, while a 245 might fit on a 7" wheel, it's going to perform rather poorly.

What are you hoping to gain over 225/55/16?

Why don't you post up your zip code and I'll give you a link to dealers in your area. Try that route first.

As stretch mentioned, you may not even be able to fit the 245 under the wheel wells, so the best option here really is the 225/55. The wider footprint in conjunction with the high performance compounding of the Proxes4 or T1R will give you much better handling than stock. Which translates to improved steering response. I really don't recommend you going with 245/50 on the stock wheel.

Before YOU jump to TOYO... Unless it is just a matter of $$$, Look at the Hankook. It is better DRY performance HANDS DOWN and equal in wet and braking as the TOYO. And Only a few dollars more for a performer.
Just a little info. Look at ALL your Options...
