Is it better to buy toyo tires online or from local shop? What are the pros and cons?
Proxes4 - 139.95 per tire + 56 road hazard + 67.80 rotations etc, Total 728.03 Proxes4 - 113 per tire (unknown cost of hazard/rotations) , Total 452 And will these tires fit ok on mazda 6s, 225/40/18 w/ Konig troubles 18x7.5 and tanabe springs? Will I have to get realigned (If so, how much does this cost and is it necessary?) or need fenders rolled? |

Located in FL, I think your friend should make this an exception
What's wrong with shipping if I'm willing to pay the costs?

Online vending tends to reduce our product to a simple commodity, which we at Toyo feel we have a superior product and deserves better (apologies to online vendors). It can be more difficult to get problems/warranty issues handled from the online vendor. Also, local shops may charge you more to mount/balance your tires as they now encounter the risk of scratching your wheels. Sometimes the price difference isn't all that huge and having the personalized service is worth the extra cost. Purchasing from an online vendor certainly makes sense if there is no Toyo dealer in your area, but the choice is up to you, the consumer. How much is that extra service worth to you? Regarding 225/40R18...I have the same setup on my car but stock height and no rubbing. What's the offset of the wheels? That will make a big difference in whether it will rub or not.

When we got Proxes 4's for our P5, we got an online price and got a local dealer to match it, Discount Tire. You get the best of both worlds, plus a free Road Hazard warranty.

offset will be the determing factor on the fender question. as for alignment, i would have it checked, to confirm its still within spec.
as for the tires, good choice btw, i have the same tires, and just love them. i would suggest a local vendor too...just because of the ability to be able to go to the store if you have warranty issues or what not...

Stopped by Discount Tire for the third time and asked if they could order Toyo's, finally was able to talk to the manager and he said he could call the warehouse tomorrow for a price. Think I can push for 130/135 per tire and wheel? I think Discount Tire is one of the best local dealers around, great warrenties and decent prices. Glad the manager I talked to said he could get the Proxes4.
Toyoguy - I dont know the offset of the wheels, I havnt changed them so I suppose it is stock. Got realignment price for 40 dollars (Discount Tire) but not sure if I'll have to do it when I get the Tanabe Springs 1.2 drop. Tires - 225/40/18 Wheels - 18x7.5 |

Konig's website says that wheel is +45 offset. With the Tanabe springs, you'll probably get a little bit of rubbing on the back fender. This is easily fixed by having the fender lip rolled. Ask Discount if they'll do this and for how much. You will definitely have to have the car aligned after installing the springs. Konig Wheels for the Mazda6

Oh wow, I had no idea that offsets worked like that. Didnt know that the wheel itself had a certain offset to be placed at, thought it was just like a guess and check type thing.
Believe I read that stock offset is at +55, should I be alright riding with this offset for awhile until I can get it realigned? (Forgot to ask what would be the negatives effects of running at 55 instead of 45 offset?) Thanks for the information
