I've been quiet, asking questions, finding info. Looking up wheel weights, offset, and the difference between cast, magnizium, and forged rims. 10 months in Afghanistan I've scowered the world that is known as Google.

After looking over names like ADR which have the F15 and the 10 spoke design I at last desided on Centerline a company that was made in 1970 and has dominated the hot-rod seen for longer then I've been alive. Sporting the claim that they had 15-16 lbs 18 inch wheels and 13-14 lbs 17's I waited for the day that I would leave the desert and be able to order them.

That day has come and gone. I've been waiting 30 days for "my" rim to be made for "me". Each wheel is made to order and takes a month to be forged and shipped. Today was my day....

Now, you may think that I'm over dramatic. That you wont be able to see certain things I'll complain about but, let me remind you that each wheel costs $330 dollars each comming to about $1,376.71 total.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since my cell phone desided that I needed stupid pictures of smilies instead of picture room only one of my pics came out. The rest I'll get with a real camera and show you.

This is what I found when I opened the boxes at the store today.

Looking at the rim I wanted to put it on a scale ASAP, they had a digital scale in the store and it was 18 lbs instead of 16?

Next I gazed at my beauties and noticed swirel marks from where the bit cut out the triangle shapes. I've watched "Westside choppers" enough to know that this is how they do it..... but they have always found a way to make them not show up. Keeping it at one depth by machine or sanding or something. 3 of the 4 rims had this. Even on parts that should have been smoot like where the wheel spreads out to the lip.

As we turned them, there was a dark cut or scratch marks on the lip of the backside of the wheel on the top and bottom. The wheel has little groves showing ridges, but again on 3 of the 4 wheels there were these scratches like as if the machine had some defective part as it cut my wheel.
If you go to www.centerlinewheels.com you can see how they take one block of metal and spun at 300 rpms and crushed with 4000 lbs so that on a molecular level the molicules align. But mine had black gashes on the backside.

Lastly the centercap of one had a scratch on the name, looking like a crack.

So, gashes on the back, machineing marks on the front and a scratch! At $330 a piece and a month to wait?

They stayed at the shop. I'll admite they were beautifull and I had a hard time taking pictures because the reflection would show my camera. But the swirel marks would make brake dust show every flaw. The scratch would taint their craftmanship and I would always know about the black gashes on the inside lip.

They better make me another set.

So here's the pics. Centerline said that they couldn't make sure there weren't any swirl marks on every wheel because it would cost too much. I don't know on Westside choppers that computer dose a pretty good job. When you see these I'm sure you're going to ask what I"m bitching about. Because they look good from far away. But that's not the point. I paid good money for these.

They look great from far away but I know the brake dust is going to get into every little swirl. I've been thinking about alot of wax. If I put on enough maybe the circles wouldn't show up when it gets dirty.

Right now I have a bunch of Wheel Wax that I got off of AutoGeeks.com I saw it on a few sites and it sounds really good, cleans, protects and waxes at the same time.

The swirls on some of the inner lips wouldn't show up with the camera so I'm ignoring them. I don't want to wait again, so I might just give in and put them on.

if you paid good money for them, dont accept them until you are 100% satisfied. it is your money, and if they can not hold up their end of the agreement, then you can take your business elsewhere... DONT EVER SETTLE

Ok, been scowering Google and have found these.

http://jawz.motorcyclecity.net/custom.html
www.minitruckinweb.com/tech/o206mt_tech/
www.flitz.com

Seems the lost art of metal polishing missed my family.
Now I have to find out if they put a clear coat on the wheel and I'll get those @$%#^'s shinnin.

wow... that is pretty noticeable machine work. and yeah, didn't think about it at first, but break dust and those swirls will make a BAD combination.

I'd think twice about DIY sanding... I mean... you paid $330 EACH for these and well, send em back.... you could press the issue of wheel weight and how it was falsely advertised.

Remember you paid good money to thesee people who can't even take the time to touch up a rim. I know its hard, but don't fall in love with the rims. Remember you can get other VERY nice rims for that kind of money.

There website (centerline's) is running a special now, $280 per rim. You could just order a new set from there.

There warranty says
"Claims for damages for appearance defects will not be honored once the wheel has been mounted with a tire or if the wheel has been sold as "blemished" product. "

They are not willing to take them back and repolish? The only thing that I can think of which would cause deep marks would be if the cutting tool were dull, perhaps you were the lucky last wheel cut before changing the bit!
