ok, wife hit a pothole 2 weeks ago and blew out the front tire. We took it to a local tire shop and had the new tire put on. The tire shop forget to put the key back in the car. this morning, the rear tire on the same side blew out ( had been slow-leaking since the hit 2 week s ago) and i couldn't change it!!!! today i went to the shop to get my key ( they called 2 days ago and said they had it) and it was gone,. they have no idea what happened to it.

Are these keys starndardized? is there just one for all 6s or do i need some code off the car to get the right one? where would i get a new key? Mazda dealer???

When you bought the locks the dealer should have given you the paperwork. There's a postcard sized piece of paper with the code on it. The dealer I bought mine from said that I would need that code to reorder a lock if I lost mine.

Yea, you need to get the lock back from either the shop or the lock mfr.

However, there is another method. Take a (whats the word i cant think of right now) and bang it into the lock. A lug wrench a little larger might do.

The idea is to force something onto the lock so you can unscrew it.

note: its what i've read. i have never had to resort to this method. No warranty in advice!

You can get them off without the key but you might not be able to reuse them. My friend has a tool kit that can take them off since people commonly lose the keys. Since the SHOP lost the key, I would go there and have them get it off, and replace the locks with a new set. Its the least they can do since the problem is their fault.

If they're Mazda Accessory Wheel Locks, they're all the same. So if you can afford it, and feel like doing it, just get a new set. We've never sold just the key. They're all the same. Otherwise, I suggest going to a locksmith, and see what he can do. But we've had ppl come in who lost the key and (i hate to sound "dealer-y", but its true) the only thing we can really do for them is sell them a whole new set.
Good Luck

Tire Discounters have keys out the ying yang. If you they don't have the key, then they'll get it. Make sure the garage that lost you keys repays you!

Good luck.

One of my friends lost his key. He's been waiting for 2 months for an order he put in for an extra key.

But what cbob said is a good way to do it.

Btw, this is how you get wheel locks off if you want to steal a rim.
