If you could buy any tire, for regular driving, NO snow, which would you buy ?
These will be on the stock rims and Tanabe springs. Thanks, /\/\ark

You should go with 225/45R17. 225/40 is too small. (EDIT: I could only find one tire, the Nitto NT555 in the 225/40R17. You'll have a much wider selection by going with 225/45R17)
Of course, I like Toyo (as do a lot of people on this forum) Our current top of the line is the Proxes T1-S, but if you can wait until this summer, we will have a new tire, the Proxes T1-R, which should provide improvements in noise and wear characteristics (and likely improvements in performance).

Seems like all the reviews I read on the leading tires are mixed. Most people rate them high and then you get those who rate them low. I'm looking for a tire with good tread life , quiet, nice ride and looks good.
I could probably wait till summer if the new toyos are worth the wait. BangHatch, the reviews on the Bridgestones are that they wear out fast. ? ![]() Toyoguy , how are the proxy 4's you are running ? [\[\ark

Ok, I mentioned the T1-S/R because you mentioned NO snow. The Proxes 4 is all-season UHP. Now, if treadlife is of concern, then you may want to steer clear (pun intended!) of max performance UHP tires. These tires have unbelievable grip because they sacrifice tread life for grip (usually).
I've put about 10,000 miles on my Proxes 4s with one rotation so far and 1-2/32 have been worn off. However, my driving is 80-85% highway driving, which wears tires very little. As they say, your results may vary. However, I will say, I LOVE these tires! They handle great, are very quiet and should last a long time (and they're reasonably priced).

but i have no experience with toyo either.. i wasnt allowed to use any other tire since bridgestone was my sponsor... prior to that though, i had tried out dunlop formula R.... they are very good as well (for dry not wet) - but i would recommend this tire for drag instead.... i also have tried out advan R032s and potenza RE540s (japan available only) and these are intermediate tires not recommended for street use. |
