Default Repainting silver wheels

I put some 18" silver rims on my car and now I have a couple of scratches on them. I'm not sure but think the wife did it! I seen some silver wheel paint at autozone the other day and was wondering if the paint is any good. I'll repaint all the wheels so they all match and put a clear coat on them. Has anyone done this or know if it'll even look good? They have silver metalic and graphite metalic wheel paint.

Hmm, I'm not sure what this paint is exactly. If its cheap, chancs are it may not work :) Now just to be clear, are you talking silver or chrome?

i am sure he is talking about those silver paint that's specificly for painting wheels. Personally i have only use the gunmetal one on my old talon wheels. and they turned out to be pretty good. If the scratch is not deep then it's possible to just buff it out like buffing ur car. but if it's too deep then u need to sand it down smooth then paint it.

I am thinking about having my factory 17"s blasted and powder coated gunmetal. I like the style of the factory rims. My car is silver, but I don't like the silver rims. I think it would look better gunmetal. what do you guys think?

I think you should leave the rim silver kristoff, that style looks nice with gunmetal IMHO.

If I did repaint the wheels would I have to sand the wheel down first or could I just paint over them with no sanding?

You should sand them down first and maybe use a filler. It depends on how deep the scratch is. Otherwise you'd see a painted scratch.
