Putting together what I will want to put on my car for the drag strip and just want some outside opinion now.
The tires will be Nitto 555R Drag Radials, as the BF Goodrich alternative does not have any tire size close to us using. 245/50R16 245/45VR17 Wheels is a good sized list, looks really don't matter much here, since performance is the goal. I'd go with 16's with a +38 offset. I figure +40 is the minimum safe offset to run that wide of a tire, and I'd try to stay as close to that minimum as possible. Get whatever's cheapest, IMO- tire weight matters a lot more than wheel weight for acceleration. You'll lower your rotational inertia more by staying with 16's than you would by getting even slightly lighter 17's. Plus, it'll allow the sidewall more room to deform on the launch.

I agree with stretch. You might even want to look at some Koseis. They are cheap and light... youre at the drag strip so you dont have to worry about hitting potholes...
also skinnier tires in the back and raised pressure would help your launches...

Good luck trying to run some of those smaller offsets! You have to keep in mind the 6 has an unusually high offset. I agree with stretch that 40 is the lowest you should go, but I'd probably stop myself at 45 just to be on the safe side (depending upon wheel width of course).

Well I have been using an offset calculator to gauge what is best to use, the stock 17 sits the closest to the inside wheel well, so using that as the starting point an 8" wide wheel with a +38 offset will have 9mm clearance from the rear wheel lip to the suspension and the outer lip will extend 35mm more than the stock 17", which converts to just about 1.5". Doesn't KUNING-6 have 19s with a 36-38 offset?
Eric, what size tires would you recommend for the rear then?

Let's be clear on this, you have no chance of getting those wheels to fit for street use. You wouldn't be able to turn or go over good bumps. However, drag racing is in a straight line, and for that they'd be fine.
245's on a +30 offset would push the tire out 45mm more than stock, about two full inches. You simply can't tuck that much under there. I was only quoting the minimum offset needed to clear the inside suspension knuckle that extends to the upper A-arm in the front. IIRC, there's a BFGoodrich g-Force DR that's a really low diameter. If they stick, they will give you a tremendous jump out of the hole with the already short first gear. :)
