Hey everyone...........I'm new to the boards/site, and my 6 has turned one week old today. Lots of information to soak in here........doing a little each day.
I could use some advice/comments/suggestions.......on new wheels. I want to put 17" (17x7) wheels on my 6 with an offset of 45, and a tire size of 215/50/17, or 215/45/17......the deciding factor will be whether or not the setup will rub anywhere. Without having to modify any part of the car.......what is the best scenario for a hassle free experience. I have read the offset on the stock 17's is crazy at 60mm, so this kind of thing is new to me.......meaning, I have never run accross a car that is so picky with it's shoes. I have also read about fender rolling, and while I do intend on avoinding having to do that..........what in the world is it? I appreciate any comments anyone has. Thank You, Mark KCK |

i dont think 215 would rub with either 45/50
but 50 sounds very comfortable ride inded :) |

My rims are 17x7 with a 48mm offset and 215/50/17 tires. Not lowering vehicle, so the 50 series tires works out great for me, no rubbing. With 45mm offset you shouldn't have problems.
If you think you want to lower your 6, then the 45 series tires would be the way to go. |

agree with OddsNEnds
the 6 got a deep wheelwell so it shouldn't have any problem with big profile tyres the rubbing occurs mainly to the outside wall of the tyre when getting wheels with bigger offsets |

you mean wheels with smaller offsets! i.e. a lower offset of +40 is more likely to rub than a bigger offset of +48. I have aftermarket 17x7's with a +45 offset and 215/50/17 tires. I have had people in the car and it doesn't rub. However if you drop it more than an inch, I would recommend a 215/45 series tire. I plan on lowering it less than an inch(racing beat springs), so hopefully I won't have to roll my fenders. |
