Hi,

Our shift knobs use a system called NTIS to thread on to the shifter shaft. The shift knob is threaded with a large inner thread, which threads on to an insert with inner and outer threads. The knobs do thread on, there are no set screws like many aftermarket knobs on the market. This allows for height adjustability and if you change cars in the future you can order a $5 insert to fit the different thread size.

Here is an image which explains NTIS a little better:

Thanks,

Kevin

okay, so with NTIS this can fit the automatic tranny thread then?

i'm interested in TWM Aluminum Classic Shift Knob but i'm worried that the aluminum finish will start to show signs of wear after a while. will it?

Hi achow87,

Thank you for your interest in our products. The TWM Aluminium Classic shift knob is made of bare aluminium so it won't show any signs of wear when you use it because there is no anodizing to wear off. If however it seems to lose some his shine, it can be cleaned with a wheel cleaner or any aluminum polishing product.

We know for sure that the NTIS system fits a Mazda 3 with automatic transmission perfectly, it is an M8 x 1.25 thread. The automatic Mazda 6 is very likely the same thread size, but we would need confirmation from you to be certain. Feel free to contact us toll free at 1-877-655-0540 or by email at sales@twmperformance.com for any other informations.

Thank you,

Frank
