Ad on craigslist: Speed3 wheels

I phoned and talked to the guy, Sean. The ad isn't clear but they are the 10 spoke Speed3 wheels. 18x7, ET52.5 (that's what he said was on the back). $450 for all 4 is a really good price IMHO.

He swapped them out before driving the car off the lot. Apparently not a mark on them. Forgot to ask which finish (I think '08s had a darker "black" chrome like finish). I'd consider getting them but I don't really need a set, unless somebody wants my 18x7.5 10 spoke RIAX wheels (gun metal center, polished lip, ET42).

Spank or slap me now, Wing.

No they don't, RX-8s are 18x8.

Yes, I'm quite certain those are the ones. I happen to like those wheels better than than the stock Speed6 wheels, especially in the darker colour that the '08s had.

I wouldn't be replacing my RX8 wheels. The RX8s are wider and lighter. I'd use these for my snows (which is a bit of a waste), which are currently mounted on the RIAX wheels.

Why would I replace them? No real good reason, other than they might fit slightly better as they are a more correct offset. The RIAX are ET42 and the snow tires are slightly oversized, at 225/45-18. I rubbed once going over bump at high speed with two people in the back seat. THat's why I wouldn't mind rolling the fenders a bit more.

Slightly off topic but I have to say that using a light wheel/tire combination certainly helps to make the car feel much livelier. Car jumps off the line noticeably quicker at initial throttle tip in.

My RX8 wheel and General Exclaim UHP (235/40 size) currently weighs right around 40lbs each (lighter than new as tires have lost rubber and are down to wear bar). The RIAX rim and snow tire combo weighs around 48lbs. Swapping back to the RX8s after this past winter felt like I just removed 4 boat anchors off each corner of the car. Very positive and noticeable difference, enough so that I would willing give up a bit of absolute maximum grip (which is hard to use on the street anyways) to get a light tire again.

Edit: forgot to mention that if anybody is interested in seeing what their wheel/tire combo weighs I'll bring my digital scale. It's a hanging type of scale that reads up to 50lbs and commonly used by bike shops to weigh complete bikes.

Also, as I'll have my rear wheels off for the fender rolling, anybody who wants to compare what my wheels/tires feel like in comparison to theirs are welcome to mount them up and take them for a spin around the block. I'm not saying they're super light, but if your stockers weigh 45lbs then you can feel what dropping 5lbs at the end of the hub feels like.

Well, since you're breaking the rules, then I'll jump in and break some more. Anyone need a set of snow tires mounted on 16" black steelies? They were my winter set and they were used for one season and I never got stuck in them. Still lot of life left. If interested, please PM me as I need to sell them so I can afford new snows for my new vehicle.

haha...I'm sure they will fit a Mazda3.

Oh and just to violate a little more, anyone need a cargo net? I don't have the clips that go in the trunk for mounting it though, but if someone has a way to do it themselves or want to give it a go, let me know. Just asking $10 for the net.

Ummm.........I meant speed3 and speed6 wheels have the same spec. I know the Rx8's are lighter and wider than the speed3 and 6 wheels, which he already have.

How about the Rx7 wheels..they are 16x8 16lbs each? Pretty light, and snow tires would be cheaper that way.. I definitely felt the car much livelier with my Te37's, after all they are 17.2lbs each.
