:rant Who the fuck willingly pays a connection fee for cell phone service? The provider needs YOU, you don't need them! Don't pay connection fees and stop making it common practice for them to charge them people! This is only directed torwards those of you who willingly paid the connection fee for your cell phone, and not those that realised that it isn't you who need the cell phone, but the cell phone that needs you. STOP DOING THESE THINGS! I had a 10 minute argument with a Sprint rep yesterday because she refused to waive the fee, so I told her to have fun while I went to someone that realised they needed me more than I needed them, Verizon so far (haven't bought yet, though). Nextel will also waive it I believe. This applies to ALL fees for installation of a service, or connection of something that you are going to be paying for on a monthly basis. I have never paid a connection fee for my cell phone, my home phone, or an installation fee for cable (had the same argument with them but they saw it my way eventually) or any other service YOU PAY FOR. How rediculous is this? We don't need this shit, they need us to use their shit! Damn it people.

Intelligent consumers don't use cell phones at all. The whole industry is a big scam.
Closest thing to a cell phone that I would get is one of those emergency 911 only phones or some sort of prepaid phone with no contract if for some reason you really needed one. I do have to carry a cellphone and pager for work on occasion and loathe every minute of it.

That is bad business, and it will catch up to you. The cell phone market is quickly becomeing a mature market, which means there will be very little new market share to grab, they will have to fight over what is already out there, which means they will start offering better and better deals to customers to use their service. The "screw you because I can replace you" thing, will be over soon. |

I have been raised working in the cell phone business and I do not see any decline of the market if anythign it is growing will parents buying their children phones at a younger age I have sold phones for people that were giving them to kids 10 or 11 I remember when CAR PHONEs came out they were being installed in jags and benz now there almost isnt a child in school without one. As for the whole 911 or pre-paid phones talk about gettin ripped on the dollar/min there
