Well I have a Fast-lane pass here in Mass. In the 6 I just store it in the upper dash compartment. When it's time to enter the mass Pike I put it on the dash, left side up against windshield. Never moves and always works too.

Here in NY you get a ticket + points on your license if you don't have it permanently mounted on your car. I have mine on an aftermarket suction cup clip behind my mirror, but there are license plate frames available that have the transponder built in. I'm thinking of ordering one of those, but I hear it's pretty expensive.

i was thinking of putting it in the compartment above the radio, but i don't want to get tickets from police or for it not reading it. i was thinking of coloring it black or take it apart and see how unnoticeable i can make it.

i go over the bridge to new jersey everyday, and almost everyday i see someone in front of me reach over and grab the transponder and hold it up and then put it away once they are past it. I dont think you get points in PA but if you get caught i think its a ticket... but seriously what cop can catch you? I dont see anyone paying attention in the lanes.

Well, your license plate usually gets snapped as you go through most toll plazas, so I guess it wouldn't be too hard to find out who took your E-Z Pass. |

i have mine sitting on my dash up against the winshield, in that little recessed area, it seems to fit good and I can hide it if I want. I got pulled over once for not having it secured o my windshield and I told the cop the velcro was not sticking, he just told me to hav eit fixed and let me go, but that was in my old car, Im not sticking anything to the windshield of my 6

Why would it be an issue if it's not attached? :sarc Who cares? It's your car, your EZ pass, and it's not required equipment on the vehicle like a catylitic converter. If it doesn't scan when you go through, then they send you a ticket in the mail. They make more money that way. Things like this really piss me off.
Officer: Do you know why I've pulled you over? Driver: Nope. Can't imagine, why? Officer: You're EZpass badge isn't secured to the windshield. Driver: Oh. I wasn't aware that you pay my credit card bill every month and wield the authority over what I do with my personal belongings. Would you also like to arrest me for not placing my cell phone in the center console while it's charging? Officer: Please step out of the vehicle, sir. Driver: Sure thing officer. Are you going to make sure I'm wearing my underwear correctly? I'm pretty sure I've got them on right, my mother dresses me you know. Officer: Please step around to the back of the vehicle and place your hands on the trunk. Driver: Okay, but please don't ask me to open it. The body's been in there for quite some time and will probably stink pretty bad. :P Fortunatly, I've found that being polite works better than sarcasm. And if you can get the cop to laugh, you're all set. I got pulled over in NJ for doing 72 in a 50. The officer took my license and asked if there was anything wrong with it. Not knowing what VA might have decided was grounds for suspending my lisence (I had been pulled over in VA a few months before hand and they are notorious for not telling you that they suspended your lisence); I answered truthfully by saying "Not that I know of". Which got a chuckle out of the officer who in turn gave me a ticket for 5 over Vs. 22 over. A difference of well over $200 in price, not to mention the effect it would have had on my insurance! Either way, both of us where smiling when it was over. Another good tip I learned, if you're ever pulled over in the rain try to stop under an over pass so the cop's not standing out in the rain. That got me completly out of a ticket one time. The cop was very greatful and just gave me a verbal warning. Joe |
