I would just get the rotors out and have a shop resurface it, they will tell you if they are still thick enough to be resurfaced.
I got 94K miles on mine and they're still the original ones

because of the differences in pad material, its always a good idea to have your rotors resurfaced (or turned). you can also sand with a fine grit sand paper until there is a light cloudy haze to get some of the embedded pad material off the surface. be sure to clean the rotor after sanding. a local shop turned mine for $15 a rotor so its not a big deal.

one thing to keep in mind is different pads may adversely react with the OEM rotor surface. both EBC and Hawk pads did a number on my rear OEM rotors with a lot of grooving and uneven pad wear. i've since been recommended to use ceramic pads for better rotor life.

shops charge you an arm and a leg to resurface the rotor. if it doesn't have obvious noticeable scratches on them, i wouldn't think it's necessary. post pics of your rotor and we'll judge

Most shops use the cheapest Accuturn lathe and have a shop monkey gouge the crap out of your rotors and cut them in one pass.

I wish they would just let me do it. I'd still be willing to pay them.

In my opinion, this is bad advice. Any time you're changing pads, you should turn or replace your rotors too. It costs less than $20 to get both done at O'Reilly or a different parts place and is well worth it.
