We are famous for our slogan in the high end, European market, “You pay your money, you ought to be happy”. We mean it. If one of the components of your Xtec HID kit ever fails, just return it. We’ll mail you a new one promptly. What about pricing? XtecUSA HID 35 watt Performance System - $315.00 for Mazda6club members. Here's why we carry Xtec:
A poster on the Mazda3Forums stated that there was a belief that the Prolumen kit was basically the equivalent of the Xtec kit. Xtec USA and us pulled 2 kits off the shelf that illustrate some of the differences. To really emphasize the approach of the two companies, I decided to select the H4 Hi/Lo beam kit from Prolumen – vs- the H4 Lo beam only kit from Xtec. Why would I select the presumably more complex Hi/Lo kit from Prolumen? Well as we can see, they claim that their kit is a Hi/Lo kit but in fact, it is a Lo beam only kit. There is no high beam function other than NOT going out when switched to Hi beam. Here are the bulbs up against each other (Xtec on the left). ![]() Notice that there is no 3rd wire for any Hi beam discrete functionality. Why? There is only one arc. One source of light at a fixed focal length on the Prolumen bulb on the right. Also notice that the Prolumen kit has no Serial Number, no Kelvin color temperature marking. What color do you have? How will you enforce warranty with no serial number traceability if your retailer disappears and you need to contact the factory? Observe the superior weather and electrical sealing on the left bulb from Xtec. ![]() This is the business end of the bulbs. The Xtec is on the left with FULL light shielding as required. The Prolumen bulb has a small square of glass paint over the top of the burner area. It is not sufficient to control glare. Also observe the superior electrical and moisture sealing of the Xtec bulb. There is at least 3 times more money invested into the Xtec bulb. Now lets look at the ballasts.... ![]() The Prolumen ballast and igniter appear to be more complex. In an installation sense, this is true. The Xtec kit has a integrated ballast and igniter that make installation a simpler matter. In addition, extra connections (particularly with inadequate, non-standard, Chinese connectors) are a probable source of failure. Electrical connections in high voltage systems should be minimized and carefully shielded. The Xtec systems utilize GENUINE Amphenol and Hella connectors (D2S systems) and not cheaper copies of the quality connectors required to allow us to offer a lifetime warranty. The last point is one that cannot be illustrated but it needs to be pointed out. The Xtec system is considerably more efficient than the Prolumen system. 94% efficiency –vs- 78% efficiency. The Xtec ballast runs cool enough to hold comfortably in your hand. The Prolumen kit generates more heat. Heat is the 2nd greatest enemy of electronics after water. A key item to consider in selecting a quality system built to serve you for many years is how carefully the company chooses its components. One of the keys to the life of the HID bulb is its ability to survive the concentrated heat generated on the tips of the electrodes. They are tiny. The heat needs to be taken out of the electrodes continuously to allow the bulb to last for years. Lets examine the Xtec bulb in comparison to the Prolumen bulb. The bulb shown here is the Prolumen bulb. Initially it appears to be identical to the Xtec bulb shown on the following page. But look carefully at the flat piece of metal welded to the electrode wires above and below the arc area (egg shaped). Take note of their physical size. Because these metal plates are made to take heat out of the electrode tips and allow them to withstand heat for hours on end. ![]() Now examine the plates on the Xtec bulb. They are much larger, much better equipped to dissipate the heat generated in the electrodes. ![]() Both systems are 35 watt units. One of them, the Xtec, carries a real lifetime warranty (not one that has a year warranty or may change to a lifetime warranty without any change to the kit ) and takes the steps to build a system to last.As always...that's why Xenon Expert distributes Xtec. We always carry quality brands and not necessarily the one we make the most money on. We sell only stuff that we would use in our own cars. Don't be fooled by "super specials on cheap kits". You get what you pay for.

Pardon my lack of knowledge here...I'm more of a gear head...not a styling, or exterior kinda guy....
H1, is high and low beams, and H3 is fogs for the Mazda 6 correct? If they are the same wattage, how is one brighter than the other? I would like to do High, Low, and fogs...does this mean I need 3 ballasts? I'm confused on the whole HID scene |

high-beam HID would be a waste. they take a couple of minutes to warm up, so when you flash your brights it will decrease and ruin the life of the HID kit. when you purchase your low-beam HID kit, you really won't need the highs...as the lows are bright enough without them.
