Default SURE SRI+TIP odd noise at rev

As per the title says, I got my SRI+TIP installed and notice when I'm in neutral and rev to say 4-5k I hear a pop. We're talking like if you were to shoot off a cap gun style pop..

Any input? My first assumption was a missfire.

Pop from exhaust? pinging sound?

Does it do it during normal driving? I guess we need to find out if its detonation or pre-ignition.

Did you unplug the battery after you installed the tip? (i would assume you have too)

Unplugged battery, ecu is reset. It's perfectly fine driving, thinking rev limiter or the fact the ecu doesn't have a mix ratio in mind yet and it might be running rich on revs.

Unburned hydrocarbon reaching auto-ignition temp from hot exhaust gases in your exhaust manifold, or even after, and combusting. Like small explosions...

Your ECU is probably like, "HOLY FUCKING SHIT, WHAT IS ALL OF THIS AIR, BITCHES?! BETTER ADD MO FUELZ!"

Lol, but, yeah, that ^^^^^

I'm betting your MAF Cal / fuel trims are freaking out. That happens when you make a drastic change like increasing available air substantially, then immediately rev it in neutral to check out the new awesomes before the ECU has a chance to learn & make adjustments.

Alright that's what I figured. Thanks guys, fyi roadracer, the percentage of people who rev their engine in neutral within the first hour of putting on an intake is probably in the 90s, that doesn't make everyone a ricer but awesome useful input you have there.

Just wondering......why are you revving the motor in neutral to that high of an RPM?
