It would require a complete rewrite so it isn't too likely. I don't think that the site is bringing in enough money to warrant that level of effort.

"Tagging a user" is a way to notify another forum member to look at a post. It shows up as a notification just like when you get a PM.

In practice, a modifier of some kind is added to a user's screen name to trigger the action, most often a "@" symbol is used. For example typing @flipper66 would highlight your name and set a notification for you that would link back to this post.

Often used to bring a post to someone's attention, or to give them a heads up about using some info or a pic they provided

Working example:
@IHeartGroceries has a great looking car
