Is it a bad idea to use goo gone on the clear coat? I got a bunch of crap caked onto my rims and my front bumper and mirrors. I wanna make sure its ok before i go and mess up the clear coat lol. So if anyone knows, please share your knowledge.

I have used it on my wheels, and they are fine still.

It doesn't hurt clear coat I don't think. Lots of people use it to remove residue from when they debadged or other things.

KK thanks for the help. Id rather make sure first before i go and mess up the clear coat lol. What about rust remover on the rims? I got a large coat of rust on them from when my brakes where grinding metal on metal and i cant get it off. I dont think that would be a good idea.

What are you removing that requires Goo Gone? It's fine for paint, but there might be other solutions.

Just grime and small rust spots.

If it's grime that doesn't come off with regular car soap, grab a paint cleaner. Either of the Step 1 products from Mother's or Meguiar's would be fine. The small rust spots might come out as well with that method. However, you should look into why they are happening. Often, they are the result of small metallic particles that can be removed with the use of a clay bar.

I have done that in the past.. but it took me like 4 hours to do the whole car.. I don't have that kind of time anymore, so I'm looking for a quick and easy fix to just do the bumper and mirrors as they get the worst of it. And clay bar didn't really do a good job on the front bumper... It feels like i have some rough paint on it or something when i slide my hand across it. I think it was after my car went to the shitty body shop to fix the rear end... stray paint or something lol. But that was years ago.

If it took you that long, then you were doing something wrong. I hope you plan on waxing those areas afterwards.
